Charity Bingo Games raise money for local u16 girls football team
Apollo Bingo in Rhyl and its customers have rallied together to help save local under 16 girls football team. A charity flyer was played during the club’s Christmas afternoon and evening parties the week before Christmas to raise money to buy new football kit for Rhyl Hearts under 16 girls.
Grassroots Sports Kits and Services approached the bingo club for help as the team were desperate for Kit and jackets.
General Manager of Apollo Bingo Rhyl, Rob Walrond, said, “When we realised the girls were faced with the prospect of not being able to have a team next season or the embarrassment of using an ill-fitting second hand kit from another club which wouldn’t have their club badge or be in their team colours, we wanted to step in and help.”
“We asked our customers to help raise monies to get these inspirational ladies off to a flying start in 2017. The charity flyers raised £223.10 in total but we rounded it up to £350. We hope this contribution goes some way to ensuring they stay active in the community and look the part too.”
Mike Smith, Grassroots Sports Kits and Services, said “We’re extremely grateful to Apollo Bingo Rhyl, staff and customers for their support. “The team have chosen a training kit which the funds will pay for which is something they only dreamed about having in the past.”
