Majestic Bingo crowns its first Caller of the Year
Seven contestants battled it out in a bid to be crowned Majestic Bingo’s first ever Bingo Caller of the Year. Each entrant had five minutes on stage to entertain the 230 strong crowd before going on to call a game of bingo. With the standard of calling so high, the judges faced a tough decision awarding the top three coveted prizes; £250 1st prize, £100 2nd prize, £50 3rd prize.
First prize was awarded to Rob Spencer from Ritz Bingo in Castleford. Rob started working in bingo aged 16 before joining the army. After leaving the army he ended up in Castleford (Ritz Bingo) where he has enjoyed working for nearly eight years.
2nd place was awarded to Jason Dale from Apollo Barrow. Jason has been in the bingo industry for 21 years and has called link games for 17 years. In this time he reached the regional final of the National Bingo Caller of the Year competition. 3rd place was awarded to Billy Beswick from Hippodrome Bingo in Bishop Auckland. Billy started working in the industry at the age of 18 before moving onto Holiday Camps. He came back into Bingo five years ago, and has worked for Majestic Bingo Limited since April. Currently Billy is the Company’s only National Live Caller and you can hear his voice on Tuesday Afternoons and Wednesday Evenings.
The competition formed part of the company’s North East Jamboree held in Durham – the fourth event of its kind this year.
