Camborne bingo club shows its caring side
A cheque for £876 was handed over to Cornwall Hospice earlier this month thanks to fundraising efforts at Apollo Bingo Camborne.
The money was raised through a charity flyer played every Saturday Afternoon with half the proceeds from ticket sales going directly to the charity.
The local bingo club approached the local charity after customers voted it as their favourite from a shortlist (of four).
Mark Durrance, General Manager for Apollo Bingo Camborne says: “We are proud to present a cheque to our nominated local charity for 2018. Cornwall Hospice do a fantastic job supporting people and their families through difficult times.
“We take our role in the local community seriously and it’s incredibly rewarding to give something back and support a charity who share the same values. A big thanks to our generous customers, we couldn’t have done it without them!
Sarah Newton, Community Fundraiser for Cornwall Hospice Care said “We are very grateful for the support from Apollo Bingo Camborne. Their donation is greatly appreciated and the money raised will be used by Cornwall Hospice Care to continue to provide specialist palliative care to patients with terminal illness and their loved ones in our two hospices, St Julia’s in Hayle and Mount Edgcumbe in St Austell, and also in Cornwall’s hospitals and nursing facilities and in the community at our Neighbourhood Hubs.
“It costs £5.15 million a year to provide our services and with only 19% of funding from the NHS we rely on the generosity of the local community to be able to continue to provide our specialist care to the people of Cornwall.
